This is a subject near and dear to my heart, as I have a huge sweet tooth. However, that may not be the case for you!
Here are a few prompts to help you make a decision about your dessert table:
How much do I/we care about dessert?
What value does it hold for me at my wedding?
If you and your partner are not huge sweet folks, why go all out for your guests? Perhaps you want to put the energy and finances into a part of your day that is more meaningful to you.
On the other hand, selecting desserts can be a way you showcase your creativity. Here are some fun ideas:
Cookie or Candy Bar: With this idea, you can roll your guest favors and dessert all in one! Find a paper treat bag online with your wedding calligraphy/style customized on the front. Place one at each guests table setting, and place your cookie or candy bar in an accessible part of the room for guests to fill and take home or snack on at their table!
Ice Cream Sundae Station: This takes some extra planning (get a DOC ;)) because it involves meltables, but I liked that this idea is almost an ‘activity’ for guests. I’m not sure who loved it more, the kids or adults!
Cakes as Centerpieces: Utilize cakes as centerpieces to make the dessert “functional”. Small cakes on display in the center of your table can be used for decor for most of the night, and then serves a purpose after dinner. This also encourages guests to mingle and move to tables to get the flavor they want.
